About Tom Temple

After graduating from Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas during the energy crisis of the late 1970s, Tom Temple began designing and building passive solar homes and greenhouses, first in Kansas and later in central Oklahoma.

In the intervening years, as national concern over energy consumption waned, he became involved in more traditional construction and remodeling, always with an emphasis on energy efficiency and conservation. He has had the opportunity to produce many custom, hand-crafted projects, from cabinets and specialty furniture to homes and offices.

As the country became aware once again of our precarious energy and resource situation, his focus returned to sustainable design and especially to Natural Building and the use of locally sourced materials, including strawbale, cob and rammed earth.
